a story.

remember...why do i always have to start my post with 'remember'?
In my last post, i practised the art of listening to radio for ideas for my one-page-story and this was what i had written on Christmas Eve.

^^^^She caught her breath as soon as she caught sight of the sunlit bay. Her 1-metre tall purple teddy bear was lying by her side. The skeletal hair clip still clanged tightly to her jet black straight hair. Her eyes cringed for mercy as the sunshine pierced despairingly on her. From a very near distance, she could hear the clapping of ocean waves and the screaching sounds of sea gulls. Her body felt sore with the brush of skin and coarse sand. Swallowing her saliva and licking her lips in an attempt to wet the thirst for water, her croaky voice stumped in her throat, gasping a pityful sound of ‘help’.
“Where am I?”
Something crispy and rough rubbed over her palm clenched in a tight fist. Antonella turned over her right fist. With a Herculeas effort, she opened her fist, which held a brown paper. Instinct and a strong desire to seek for an answer obviously made her to move from her current position, sitting up Antonella unfolded the scrunched paper.
My Christmas Wish This Year
Her forehead cringed harder this time. The five words which she just saw didn’t bring any recollection of memory. Is she on a holiday trip now? But why isn’t there anyone on this beach. She turned around, hoping for more than a light in the distance. She needed to see a living person who can give her a clue to her existence there. Or a card protruding from the surface of the sand?
She stood up and made her way to the card. It’s a poker card, the Queen of Hearts. Queen Elizabeth II winked at Antonella from the card. The card slipped from her hand and dropped near her naked feet. Antonella gasped terrifiyingly at the card. A power by the wind flipped the card back to its original position. This time it spoke.
“I am the Queen of England, and I would like to wish you a Merry Christmas!”
After that very brief speech, the Queen faded from the card and Tony Blair’s face appeared in a cloud of uncertainty.
“I was assigned by the people to ask you for your Christmas Wish this year. Convey your wish and I will pass it on to my party members. I’m sure we will happily work something out for you.”
Antonella’s eyes grew even bigger for the past five minutes. She couldn’t decide whether this is her worst or best nightmare or dream ever. Her throat was clear but no words can come out from there for thousands of seconds perhaps. Her mind was still trying to put the pieces of puzzles in the air into clips of reality in her thoughts. What more about thinking of what her Christmas Wish would be this year. In the meantime, Mr. Blair was still staring at her conspicuously waiting for an answer.
“Can you tell me where I am, Mr. Blair?”

“You are in the Land of ????” ^^^^

Notice the question marks above. Can any of you help me to fill in that blank?

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2007 EVERYONE!
