Last Monday was Hey Diddle Diddle Day, thanks to the first airborne cow to be sent to space and this post was meant to be posted on Monday itself. In conjunction with that occasion, one of the radio stations held a competition of reciting the nursery rhyme Hey Diddle Diddle. The male deejay did a good recitation of the rhyme, complete with musical rhyme and fluent singing from the heart. For those of you who have long forgotten the famous rhyme, including me, here it is:
Hey Diddle Diddle,
the cat and the fiddle
the cow jumped over the moon
the dog laughed to see such a sport
and the dish ran away with the spoon.
Come to think about it, the rhyme doesn’t make sense at all, expect maybe the rhyming part. Wonder how old it is?
Shall I try my hand on nonsense rhyme or poem as well? Doesn’t need to make sense, just need to sound nice, exciting, comical and fun!! Like the one entitled Ning Nang Nong.
