Presentation Ideas 6

This was actually a model presenting the storage of our memory, looking from three different areas. The whole block was built from six layers of same sizes polystyrene which can be bought from stationary shops. And how were the layers put together to made one single block? By using lidi-like sticks at the sides and top (shown by the single green arrow).
I was particularly impressed by the mini cubes (shown by the yellow arrows) which showed a 3-D representation of one aspect of memory model.
The colour tones shown through the model is another nice way to introduce children to the visual representation of Sensorial Box 3 in the Montessori curriculum.

The above images represented a memory technique called loci method, by allocating objects to be memorised to different location of a familiar area. In this case, the presenters showed how a child used the things in the playground to memorise the planets in the solar system. They used wooden material to build a whole miniature playground. Look at the Neptune table! It's cute hah! Teachers can use the same method to built a zoo or farm model for children to play with the animal models.
