I had my first class: ‘Introduction to Psychology 1’ today for 2 moderately fast hours. We were introduce to the course outline and a brief history of psychology, which includes the Pre-Psychology Era and the Modern Psychology. A bit of history learning I would say.
Several famous psychologists were named: William Wundt, William James and James Watson. [I’ll meet more of the famous people on Wednesday.] Three kinds of psychology thinking were campaigned by the above three psychologists respectively: Structuralism, Functionalism and Behaviorism.
It is interesting to know how the lecturers make the above facts in textbooks seem more interactive, interesting and entertaining in life. I can see how difficult it is to just read from words in a book without a pictorial description and explanation from a more knowledgeable person.
Let’s again compare the mentality of Malaysian and European/Caucasian, example given by my lecturer himself. His cousin, a doctor and an avid watch collector, fell madly in love with the art of making watch so much so that he actually travelled to Switzerland to learn how the Swiss make their watch so delightfully accurate and attractive. Did I mention that he was there for three years?! Mad, crazy or just sheer interest…driving people to be crazy, hah;)
